MEET CAROL RYAN
My professional experience started with outpatient substance abuse treatment. I lead groups ranging from one day education programs to intensive outpatient treatment, relapse prevention, and continuing care. In 2005, I moved into advocacy when I became involved at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Supporting families with a missing and or sexually exploited child taught me a great deal about trauma, loss, and powerlessness. I continue working with the NCMEC as a conference speaker and therapist.
I am a licensed therapist in Michigan (LPC) and Indiana (LCAC). I have advanced training and certifications in addictions, trauma, EMDR, and trauma-informed yoga.
Besides my professional training, I have personally experienced the pain caused from trauma, addiction, and sexual abuse. My background includes more than a masters degree.
I have first-hand perspectives to offer my clients. I understand why a person needs to experience hope, safety, autonomy, and respect. I believe people are amazingly resilient and capable to overcome most things. I would be glad to walk with you and offer my support.
